For anyone who has trouble drawing something specific, such as animals or people, you might want to try graph drawing. It's a little easier than straight freehand, more like creating a puzzle picture.

Find a photo or drawing you'd like to try. If it's already on the computer, overlay it with a line graph. Make sure all the squares are the same size and that they are big enough that you can see what's in them. Now print it out.

Next, print (Using a very light color) or draw (using pencil) a graph on a blank page. The squares do NOT have to be the same size as the ones on the picture you are going to draw but if they are smaller, you will be reducing the size of your picture. If they are bigger, you will increase the size of your picture. All you need is to make sure that the squares are uniform and that there are at least as many squares on your blank page as on your drawing.

Now, pick a corner and start filling in squares! You can number the rows and alphabetize the columns to make it easier but what you are doing is breaking down the drawing into a number of smaller drawings. When all the squares are filled in, you're done!
