SOMETHING WICKED
Episode 118
airdate: April 6, 2006

directed by Whitney Ransick
written by Daniel Knauf

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a small town in Wisconsin where children are falling into comas for no apparent reason. The brothers discover that a Shtriga is creeping into the bedrooms of the children and stealing their "life force." While battling the Shtriga, Dean recalls a past mistake that almost cost Sam his life at the hands of the very same witch, an event which has fueled Dean's protectiveness over Sam and his blind obedience to his father (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

  • Sam: Dude, dude, I'm not using this ID!
    Dean: Why not?
Sam: Because it says "bikini inspector" on it!
  • Sam: You know, I know I've given you a lot of crap for always following Dad's orders. But I know why you do it.

  • The credit card Dean uses for the guys' motel room is a MasterCard bearing the name of Kris Warren.
  • The old woman in the hospital incorrectly calls the cross a crucifix. Crosses are only crucifixes when Jesus is on it, otherwise it is a cross.
  • When Sam and Dean go to investigate the old woman in the hospital, the number of her room is 237. This is the same room number used in the movie The Shining. The same room number is used in Playthings.

A portrait of a long-dead family is amazingly lifelike. Maybe that's because one of the likenesses is alive... and lethal.
