  • Sam - "What happened to your arm?"
Dean: “It’s a gift from Cain."
    Sam: “Like the wrestler?"
Dean: “I wish, that would be awesome. No, the Old Testament dude. He got all Biblical on me and gave me his mark."
  • Garth (to Bess) - "That’s Dean. Now he could start a fight in an empty house, but deep down inside he’s just a big, old teddy bear... Sam can be a bit insecure at times, but for good reason. Bless his heart."
  • Garth (to Dean and Sam) - "You two came busting in here like a house on fire. Guns waving, the jaw lines and the hair, it’s very intimidating."
  • Dean (to Garth) - “You said it, who cares where happiness comes from. Look, we’re all a little weird, we’re all a little wacky – some more than others – but if it works, it works.”
  • Dean (to Sam) - “Somebody changed the playbook, man, you know. It’s like what’s right is wrong and what’s wrong is more wrong.”
  • Sam (to Dean) - "Something’s broken here, Dean… We don’t see things the same way anymore, our roles in this whole thing... Back in that church, talking me out of boarding up Hell? Or tricking me into letting Gadreel possess me? I can’t trust you. Not the way I thought I could. Not the way I should be able to... You want to work, let’s work. If you want to be brothers… Those are my terms.”

  • Sam tells Dean they aren't brothers, not now
  • Garth was bitten by a werewolf during a hunt. He is now married to a werewolf and has been accepted into her pack. They survive on animal hearts and don't hunt or harm humans
  • While at dinner, it became evident that Garth and his family don’t just live on animal hearts. There were other organs and cuts of raw meat on their dinner plates. Farmer Brown also told Sam that his mutilated farm animals had their “organs” removed – not just their hearts
  • Bess and her stepmother were born as werewolves. They refer to people who got turned after a bite as “bittens”. Some members of Bess’ family look down on “bittens” and prefer to be called “lycanthropes” and not werewolves

This is a reference to the cult leader Reverend Jim Jones, who instructed his followers (members of the People's Temple) to drink Kool-Aid poisoned with cyanide, resulting in a mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana in 1978
  • Sam's fed alias was Agent Perry. This could refer to Steve Perry -- the former lead singer for the band Journey, or Joe Perry -- lead guitarist with the band Aerosmith

This refers to the cult hit TV show, "The X-Files". The show revolved primarily around two FBI agents, Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, who investigated the paranormal and the unexplained
  • Dean: "Sheriff Andy Taylor here wasn't good enough for you."
This refers to the main character played by Andy Griffith on The Andy Griffith Show from 1960-1968. Andy Taylor is a good-hearted sheriff who looks after the town of Mayberry.
