So ... I wasn't going to go to another con, but I did, and I'm glad. :)

Here's the rundown of Nashcon 2012. (Yes, it was supposed to be in June again, but they moved it up to February due to scheduling conflicts.)

Friday, Feb. 3

My friend Toni and I arrived in the afternoon, settled in, and went to look at the conference rooms so she'd know where they are. Then we were going to go eat. Well, people had already starting camping out for registration, so we lined up and waited. No food for us! (The things we do for our obsession.)

Once we got through the line, it was almost 8 p.m., time for Friday night's SPN episode to begin! But no one had really planned anything, like a viewing party (tho a few people invited others to their rooms to watch), and we were so starving and tired by then, we went to eat. O.o I know, I know -- blasphemy! But we went and had some awesome sushi and felt better, ready for karaoke and everything!

The Dick & Matt Karaoke Expereince was as mad and wacky as ever. At this con, not only Richard Speight Jr. and Matt Cohen were present and rocking out, but also Sebastian Roche (who has so much energy, it's downright scary), Rob Benedict, and late additions Kim Rhodes and Gabriel Tigerman. They also made up new t-shirts for the event!

Here are some pics and a video from the karaoke party, which was a free event open to all attendees of the convention!

Saturday, Feb. 4

Saturday included a decent time to sleep, as nothing much was going on until about 10:30. It's a good thing, since Sunday would be so early, and since everyone had stayed up late for karaoke. :)

When we came to the main hall, we found ... the Metallicar! A local named Mike had restored this Impala twin over two and half years, and it was ready just before the con started.

Here are more pics of the car, with various SPN stars, from the con, as well as shots of the restoration process -- complete with a fully stocked hunter's trunk! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3834625/
The next day, I had my pic taken in it!

The first panel on stage was the trio of Rob Benedict, Kim Rhodes, and Gabe Tigerman. They were hilarious! I always loved the characters of Chuck and Andy, and was sorry to see them go, and I have to say that both Rob and Gabe were absolutely super-nice gentlemen and so much fun! Kim Rhodes is adorable and personable and spent quite a bit of time outside of stage time with the fans!

Here's Kim talking about how she relates to her character on the show:

Next up were Dick & Matt. And Misha Collins crashed in!

The other fun and, ahem, exciting, addition to the antics that you can see above, left, is the "Matt strip tease." Dick & Matt are infamous for ribbing one another. So, when a fan came up to the microphone and said "I have $30 here for a karaoke experience t-shirt, but I'd like to buy the shirt off Matt's back," Richard Speight jumped on the opportunity -- he had a stack of shirts brought out and made Matt put them on one after the other, and anyone who wanted one would get it right off Matt's back! The joke lasted throughout the weekend -- as you will see later, even during the cocktail party! Here's a vid of one of these episodes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX8o0hjqtcY :D

Next up was Sebastian Roche. He is ... wild! Of note was that he found it difficult not to use foul language despite there being kids in the audience. So eventually, the multilingual star tried to use foreign languages to get out the less-than-politically-correct phrases, but some of us understood the French, Italian, and Spanish epithets!

The afternoon belong to Misha Collins! He started off by jumping off the stage and going toe camera at the back of the hall (which showed images on the big screens on either side of the stage) to show us all a video of his son, West, as he does some sign language that he's learning before he fully learns to talk. Adorable!

Then was asked by a fan about Castiel coming back in episode 7x17, and whether he can reveal anything about the ep. Misha runs backstage and grabs the script! He then goes into this explanation of what he can reveal, and hands over the non-sensitive portion to the fan - hilarious!

In the afternoon, we lined up to get autographs from all the stars there on Saturday (basically everyone but J&J). All went well -- and they were all wonderfully nice and liked to engage with all the fans come by! I happened to get a plug for this site when I was up to get Misha's autograph. I told him about our current poll about whom or what people miss the most, and how Castiel was leading, even over *gasp* Bobby. I showed him a printout of the results (as of last weekend). I said this might be able to help him as he negotiates to get back on the show more often, lol. He grabbed the printouts and asked if he could keep them. :D

The highlight of Saturday night was the cocktail party and centerpiece contest ... which I won (again!) :DDD
I did not think I would, and I will soon explain why ...

Here is some of the competition -- awesome work by many devoted fans!

I truly thought the cookies (at left) or the "Wishful Thinking" scenario (above), complete with Teddy blowing off the back of his head, would take the prize! However, in the end, my little creation prevailed -- here's how it went ...

The gang all came into the party room, which boasted a DJ spinning great rock tunes and a dance floor. -- and even a fake fire torch on stage. Dick, Matt, Gabe, Rob, Kim, and Sebastian all filed in, followed by their fearless leader for the evening, Misha. This year, they were to be the judges for the centerpiece contest!

They started by all going to the tables that had centerpieces and describing them one by one, with Misha watching and promising the best "barker" a reward of 50 Canadian dollars for helping a centerpiece win. The game was on. All the stars waxed eloquent about the creations, especially the COOKIES and the TEDDY! Then came time for Matt Cohen, who was our table, to talk about my centerpiece ... and all he said was "It's a black thing, with a star in it. And some white stuff around the bottom." (Salt ring, Matt!) "Whatever ... if this one wins, I'll take my shirt off." Everyone squeed at that, of course, but I thought my centerpiece was dead in the water.

Ooh, just found this great vid that someone took of all these presentations! Yay! (Many thanks to ANGELandaTARDIS for this great video!!!)

Then the judges huddled. From the center of the huddle, Misha suddenly said into his microphone, "Which one do we have to pick to get Matt to take off his shirt?" And I hoped they were still considering my entry. And then Misha announced that they had picked the shiniest one that moved, lol! My centerpiece won! I was shocked and thrilled! Second year in a row, and probably the last, since they are saying there will be no more cons in Nashville.

So here is the winner ... a pentagram with photos hanging in the negative spaces (the photos twirl as the piece spins), with icons of SPN all over the outer ring, and complete with a salt ring around the bottom. It sits on a spinning, mirrored pedestal. In front of the centerpiece on the table, you see some of the loot it won -- a certificate from Creation Entertainment for their merchandise, a pic of Sam and Dean and an Impala mug -- also courtesy of Creation -- and Misha's 50 Canadian! The cookie is from the other table, thanks to the cookie-display maker! And it was my breakfast on Monday morning before leaving Nashville -- delicious! :D

Matt came over, took off his shirt, and then also handed me the 50 Canadian dollars Misha had stuffed in his pants (and a US dollar that Sebastian had added). I asked Misha later if he wanted back his Canadian dough, and he refused, so I told him I'd just have to visit Canada! :)

Here's a vid that someone else on the other side of the room took of our table as Matt stripped and then handed over the cashola. :D

The stars all came around and sat at each table to chat for a couple of minutes. Several of them told me they liked this centerpiece because (A) it moved, and (B) because they were in it! (Most of the others were pretty much about Sam and Dean, or even just Dean.)

More Nashcon coming up ... see page 2 for Sunday, Feb. 5!
