  • Amara reveals part of what she wants, and seems to have power over Dean.
  • Amara claims she will make the world blissful and peaceful.
  • Although Dean clearly has a powerful "connection" to Amara, he was able to overcome it long enough to stab her with a knife.
  • Sam appears to be trapped inside the cage with Lucifer -- again.
  • Lucifer tells Sam that he was the one sending Sam visions of the cage -- God was not involved.
  • According to Lucifer, Amara is equal to god in terms of raw power.

  • Turning water into blood was one of the biblical plagues from the Book of Exodus.
  • The burning bush is also a reference to an event mentioned in the Book of Exodus. The burning bush is also mentioned in season 8 "Torn and Frayed".
  • Rowena says "I promised Lincoln a fun night at the theater", implying that she was present at the assassination of President Lincoln (or at least around during that time).
  • Dean mentions "going all Kanye and blowing his own horn", which is a reference to musical performer Kanye West, who is known for being boastful.
  • "O Brother Where Art Thou" is also the title of a 2000 movie (starring George Clooney) and an epic Greek poem by Homer.
