- Will Dean be able to deal with the fact that he wasn't always there for Sam when Sam was little?
- Did Sam make the right choice by following John and Dean when he was young instead of blazing his own trail?
- Is it really God trying to communicate with Sam through his visions? Or is it something else?
- Has anyone actually tried marshmallow nachos? And are they any good? They sound good.

|
| - Sam wanted, above all else, marshmallow nachos when he was a kid.
- Sam thought about running away from the hunting life when he was very young.
- Dean thinks Sam had a great childhood; he couldn't have been lonely, he had Dean.
- While Sully seems like a very mild-mannered and slightly innocent entity, his speech to Sam about heroes having the balls to get things done reveals that he understands more than he lets on at first and he is, in fact, not child-like.
- Sam trusted and cared about someone other than Dean (Sully) when he was little and had someone other than Dean (Sully) care about him deeply.
- Dean will go along with something he thinks is crazy when it matters to Sam.
- Sully does change his opinion about Dean's character by the end of the episode.

|
|
| - In the flashback when young Sam is talking to young Dean on the phone, the Impala (with John ostensibly behind the wheel) is in the background and the Impala's license plate, at that time, is: BQN 9R3.

- Young Sam (while talking to Sully) alludes to the time he tried to play superhero and fly by jumping off the roof; only tohaveit result in Sam breaking his arm and young Dean "driving" Sam to the hospital on the handlebars of his bike. We first heard about this in the season 9 episodeThinman.
- Dean references the old TV show Mork and Mindy starring Robin Williams when calling Sully "Mork" because of his rainbow suspenders; same as those Williams wore on Mork and Mindy.
- Sully's mistake with Reese and Audrey continues the ever-present theme in Supernatural that everyone, even the supremely well-intentioned, makes a mistake (often a big mistake) sometimes.
