ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE I
Episode 221
airdate: May 10, 2007

directed by Robert Singer
written by Sera Gamble

Sam (Jared Padalecki) is abducted by the Yellow-Eyed Demon and finds himself in a ghost town with other children who have special abilities. They learn the Demon has brought them together to initiate his endgame: an all-out war against the human race.

In an effort to encourage Sam to fight, the Demon shows him what really happened to one of his parents.
Dean (Jensen Ackles) enlists Bobby's (guest star Jim Beaver) help to find Sam before the battle begins, but he arrives too late.

  • Dean: (just had a vision) That was about as fun as getting kicked in the jewels.
  • Yellow-Eyed Demon: You're awfully quiet, Sam... you're not mad at me, are you?
  • Ava: Sam, psychic abilities and spoon-bending... it's one thing. But demons?

  • At the start of the episode, Dean is waiting in the car for Sam when the Yellow-Eyed Demon comes and gets Sam. The radio starts to flutter in and out which in countless past episodes has been a sign that there is a supernatural presence close. Why would he tap on the radio trying fix it?
  • At the very start, when Sam wakes up in the ghost town, there is a visible church--wouldn't it be sensible to automatically seek refuge there?
  • When Dean is talking to Ash on the Roadhouse telephone, Ash is wearing his watch on his left wrist, yet after the Roadhouse fire when Dean finds Ash's body, his watch has changed wrists and is now on his right wrist.
